Spring Semester: Words of peace

Updated: Feb 8, 2022

Hey hey!! My name is Emma Bagby and I am the Chapter President of Phi Mu at JSU! I pledged Phi Mu in the fall of 2019 and I have loved this sisterhood ever since. These women have pushed me to always be the best version of myself and they are my best friends. It is such an honor to be able to lead and pour into them!

Over the past couple of years as students, we have faced difficulty of learning in a world that seems to continue to push against us. We have had to find new ways to do the everyday things in life like grab lunch with friends, go to the gym or even attend class. It often seems like the easiest thing would to let the world continue to do its thing and we can adapt to it when it's done changing. While that may be the easiest thing, it's not the most rewarding. Getting dropped off at the top of Mt. Everest or telling of the trials of the journey to the top? Which story do people want to hear? Which story would make you feel more accomplished?

Throughout this upcoming semester, we are going to face many difficulties. New challenges will be thrown at us each day, but we have the choice to attack them or comply with them. God has a path for you. The enemy of this world will try to give us anxieties and fears in hopes to steer us from God's path or even to simply stop in the middle of it. Continue to push through!

It's often difficult to see the good in the struggle, but I want to remind you that the blessing come in the doing. God empowers us when we walk in faith. I want to encourage you to walk in the faith. Trust that the Lord is calling you to that certain career path. It's not about doing everything perfect and in the right way. Sometimes the journey will become difficult and you may make a few wrong turns, but think about which story makes you feel more accomplished?

Remember to cling to the promises of the Lord this semester. Trust in His great plan for you.

"Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking Him with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds sade in union with Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:6-7

With love,

Emma Bagby

Chapter President
