I know this time can be tough. You may be worried about leaving home and your friends. You may be close to JSU and worry about not feeling the college experience you hope for. You may worry about if you will fit in anywhere or make the right choice. All of these emotions are something everyone you meet through recruitment has been through. I can promise you that no matter what you worry about or think about, it will pass and be so worth it. This stressful, exciting, and what seems like long process is just a small part in your college journey that will open the door for all the excitement ahead

There is so much I could tell you as you go through this process, but here is the main thing. BE YOURSELF!! I know so many people will tell you this and you may think “Oh that’s easy”, but it takes more than those 2 words. In the weeks and days leading to recruitment, really sit down and think deeply about who YOU are, what YOU value most in your life, and who YOU aspire to be.

Then, as you walk through those doors in each room, think deeply about each chapter and how you see your true self being a part of that. The girls you meet and talk to want to know who you are, what your goals and dreams are, and all you stand for. It’s not all about how your makeup looks, what the room looks like, or what dress your wearing. It’s about engaging in each other and learning what each amazing woman you meet is about.
Phi Mu has brought me so much joy in my college experience. Every day I feel so blessed that God has introduced me to all these women who lift me up and push me to be the best I can be. I always prayed God would lead my heart in the right direction and I can say he did that. Remember to keep an open heart and mind as you go through these last couple months/weeks and God will lead you where you are meant to be. I am so excited for all of you to find your forever home!
Love,
Morgan Huckaby, PC’ 20
